2016 GNDDA Annual Report

A lot of work has happened over the year due to the support of the community as well as individuals, local businesses, labor unions, foundations, coomunity clubs and the City of Duluth. We thank each and every one of your for your ongoing support of this development project. A special thank you to HTK Marketing for developing the 2016 Annual Report where we highlight those who have contributed to our project.

With all of this generous support we are MOVING FORWARD TOGETHER!

With Phase I complete, we are gearing up for Phase II which will include the dog park, community garden, and sport court. To be successful we need to raise funds and secure in-kind contributions.

If you or your business would like to volunteer or be a part of this project please contact us!

GND Rec Celebrates "I Love to Read" Month

The second annual "I Love To Read" book fair is being conducted at The GND Rec on February 9 and 10th. The event is being facilitated by the GND Development Alliance with community support and a very generous donation from the Morgan Park Community Club.

Each class from Stowe Elementary will come to the The GND Rec for story time and refreshments as well as have the opportunity to pick two books at no charge from over 750 new books purchased for this event.

Local community volunteers will be donating their time to read to the children along with special visitors from the Duluth Police Department and special guests Superintendent of Schools, Bill Gronseth and Mayor Emily Larson (if her schedule permits).

We are looking forward to a wonderful two days of reading and fun!

Maurices Employees Volunteer Time to GNDDA

On September 28, 2016, Maurices closed its downtown office and allowed their employees to volunteer for a wide variety of Duluth projects. We were fortunate enough to have 17 people from Maurices come out to help clean out the drainage ditch from Carterett Street to Commonweath Avenue. We greatly appreciate Maurices commitment to our City and our project!

We'd also like to thank David Blazevic, Allen Boben and Bill Glowacki who were also on site coordinating the work and running chain saws and the wood chipper which was generously donated by Sunbelt Rental.

If you are interested in volunteering in any way with the Gary New Duluth Development Alliance Project, please contact us and we'll find a job for you and your talents!

We Need Your Help

The new GND REC is becoming the center of the community. The Community Center is completed and active.  Phase I has been completed with soccer games keeping our new fields busy.  The performance pavilion was the venue for four concerts in 2017 and the 2018 schedule is being established.  The dog park is completed and is actively used.  Much more is needed to complete our project.  Amazing people - people like you -  are asked however they can. 2018 construction is focused on Phase 2 & 3 of our project will be started and are accepting donations to keep the project rolling.
